Synopsis:

$getmatches(<array> <pattern>)

Technical:

This function treats the items in array as literal strings, and returns a word list of item values such that

for i in ($getrmatches(<array> <string>)) {
	if (getitem(<array> $i) =~ <pattern>) {
		echo True
	} else {
		echo False
	}
}

only outputs True and enver False. This is the reverse of getrmatches.

Practical:

The $getmatches() function is used to retrieve all items in the given array that match the given pattern. Similarly, $getrmatches() is used to retrieve all items that match the given string.

Returns:

list of item numbers corresponding to matches
